Mestre Negoativo offers you a special invitation, a musical journey that begins in Africa and ends in Brazilian lands. He will tell how the Primitive Arch accessed his life as a child and his first actions as a cultural activist in his community. It will show a little of his engagement with artistic languages, cinema, literature and music, his experiences, learning and sharing in quilombola communities.
The purpose of the course is to lead the participant to a more attentive and conscious relationship and listening to the sounds that happen around them, and also to the songs and songs that lull and guide our emotions and thoughts. Thus, the intention is to open a wider field of auditory sensitivity, both for beginners in Capoeira and in the relationship with Berimbau, as well as for researchers and admirers of black art and the general public.
With this approach, the relationship with music in general and with its Berimbau-de-Barriga will make more sense, perceiving the sonic expressions and nuances, the constitutive elements and the specificities of each touch, rhythm and tradition. You will perceive the intentions and fundamentals of the shared Toques, each Toque of the Berimbau is an access code, activation, “ancestral body”.
The Mestre draws the path pointing out paths for a more organic musicality, demonstrating dialogues between the instruments in the formation of the drums, their tunings, as well as historical analyzes and reflections that contribute to awakening the musical ear. The intention is to make each participant get closer and closer to an intuitive musicality, more faithful and consistent with the practice of the old Mestres and Mestres of Saberes Populares.
By completing all the Study Material, you will go from a curious listener to a sound appreciator of life, beauty, art and the organicity of nature and ourselves.

With this Study Material, I share with you my experiences and field experiences accumulated over more than 40 years, working in Art, mainly in Capoeira and Music. As a researcher, musician and facilitator of the popular knowledge of the old masters and masters, I gather in this slowly elaborated course an esteemed meeting of sharing, research, studies, techniques, thoughts and improvements.

Son of the rural exodus of the 60s and born in the community of Maria Goretti, in the capital of Minas Gerais, graduated from the college of life, M. Negoativo is self-taught with extensive field experience and experience in Bantus demonstrations in Minas Gerais, in Capoeira and in the universe of Afro-Brazilian Music and Art.
He considers his greatest learning to have lived and lived with the Mestres and Mestres of Vissungo and with the great Capoeira maestro Mestre Waldemar da Liberdade. A researcher by nature, M. Negoativo recorded and produced the important interview-sound “I was in Liberdade and I spoke with Mestre Waldemar”, carried out in 1987, the author also has a book of historical and anthropological research on the history and consolidation of Capoeira in Minas Gerais – “Capoeiragem no País das Gerais”.
Currently, M. Negoativo teaches courses, workshops and experiences on the Musicality of Capoeira and Berimbau-de-Barriga in various regions of the globe - captivating students from all continents. The activist/musician/researcher also coordinates the Lamparina Cultural Space, where meetings, classes open to the entire community and socio-cultural events take place. Currently, Mestre is in the process of creating and recording his first solo album entitled “Arco Ancestral”, which will soon be available on the platforms.
